Weather Expert Testimony

Leading our staff of weather expert Forensic Meteorologists are Frank Lombardo and Thomas M. Else, both of whom have received the distinguished and nationally recognized Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM) designation by the American Meteorological Society. Weather Works has over 30 years experience and has worked on more than 1000 cases nationally, providing certified past weather reports, certified weather data, review of adversarial expert reports, site inspections, weather expert testimony, and more.

Types of Certified Past Weather Reports Admissable To Court:

Weather Works will prepare site-specific, easy to read and understand forensic weather reports, that provide the extent of details and expert analysis you request. Our weather expert reports have provided assistance in personal injury, property loss, business, and criminal cases. We have covered a wide range of meteorological topics including: snow and ice accumulation, refreeze, the effectiveness of deicers and abrasives, lighting conditions, lightning strikes, floods, return periods of storms and/or unusual events, high winds, fires, catastrophe, and extreme cold to name a few.

A Quick Facts Weather Report provides you with a complete analysis of the meteorological data pertinent to a particular case, claim or incident, with little or no expert opinions. These short reports are most helpful in establishing the following: the proper weather foundation surrounding your case, planning strategies and corroborating various testimonies. On average, short reports require 1 – 4 hours of research, and can be supplemented with a more detailed comprehensive report at a later date and time.

A Comprehensive Weather Report includes our expert opinions as they apply to your case and requires 4 – 7 hours or more of work, depending on the intensity and depth of research requested. In addition, our Meteorologists will typically review any supporting documents pertinent to the case; such as, Depositions, Interrogatories, police reports, snow plowing contracts, adversarial expert reports, conduct a site inspection if necessary, etc.

Certified Weather Data For Court:

Most of the weather data we reference and utilize is accessed from the world’s largest active archive of weather data, the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). The highest form of certification the NCDC offers is a two part certification under the Seal of the United States Department of Commerce with blue ribbon. This type of certification is signed by both the NCDC Records Custodian and the NCDC Director as the Certifying Officer.
