2007 - 2008 SNOW SPOTTER NETWORK

Welcome to the 3rd edition of the Weather Works Snow Spotter Network! This season we are looking for one spotter from each school to participate. The spotter may be a teacher or a student. After each snowfall (including dustings), the designated spotter would take a measurement at home and send in the data by logging on to our website.

  • This is a great experience for those interested in real-world applications of science and for volunteer work that students could add to their resumes.

  • We do ask that first-time spotters please view this 2 minute Presentation on how to accurately measure snow

  • Teachers who want to make this a classroom project can still do so, and have the class submit a group measurement (or one from the classroom). As long as there is always one designated spotter that sends in a home measurement after each snowfall.

  • The most important step in the snow measuring process is to submit data in a TIMELY fashion, as soon as the measurement is taken, please send in the data at the computer. Otherwise your valuable snowfall information could be overlooked!

  • If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Snow Spotter Network Coordinator Sean Rowland via phone (800)-427-3456 or email (seanrowland@weatherworksinc.com)
